Central Office Technician IV (Supervisor)
Job Summary
Technician IV is the fourth working level in the series. The technician will perform complex technical tasks related to the analysis of the telecommunications technician series. This requires telecommunication-level proficiency in a full range of activities. The technician will track all phases of multiple projects of varying complexity, including engineering, budgets, goals, deliverables, logistics, and reporting. Technicians must be capable of setting project priorities, developing engineering and project plans, developing schedules, and ordering Materials. The technician will be responsible for development plans, inspections, test reports, safety, specifications, and contract administration. This position may provide leading directions to subordinates and have field project responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform planning and engineering in support of telecommunication systems and telecommunication projects.
Communicate with client efficiently pertaining to all aspects of telecommunications.
Estimate, monitor, and reviews costs. Review operational budgets, schedules and personnel requirements.
Develop drawings and specifications for utility telecommunication system projects.
Create bills of materials for telecommunication equipment; obtain quotes and identify all materials.
Coordinate with other internal engineering departments, external contractors and construction crews.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field and/or 8+ years of relevant experience in Communication Systems, Electronics Troubleshooting, Electronic Testing Design and Project Management
Leadership: the ability to lead project teams, supervise subcontractors, and oversee installation sites.
Problem-solving: The ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Mechanical aptitude: A strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with all tools.
Customer service: Good customer service skills.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail: A high level of detail orientation.
Time management: Strong time management, accountability, and prioritization skills.
Must know how to create SOWs, MOPs, and BOMs.
All requirements of a Technician III must be fulfilled.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Ability to climb, crawl, and stand for multiple hours.
Ability to work outdoors on ladders, and in confined spaces.
Ability to work in variable temperatures and weather conditions.
Ability to work with/around electrical wires and/or ESD products.
Ability to work remotely at construction or installation sites.
